Flint Knapping, Bone Tools and Rawhide Sheath Making

Stone has shaped our bones. Now, with our bones we repeat this process! Our hands will remember!

Saturday:
We shall Knapp Stone Age scrapers and sharp flakes to be used throughout the weekend. We shall also craft a bone knife. There will be the option to do this entirely primitively. We shall also tack out small deer leg hocks, use our new flint scrapers on it and tack the hides out for tomorrow.

We shall cover:

  • Flint knapping scrapers and flakes

  • scrapping deer leg hides

  • tacking hides out

Sunday:
We shall finish scraping the hide and sew them up into a small sheath for the bone knife. We shall decorate the bone with ancient techniques. Additionally, we will prepare sinew and that will be an option for the cordage!

we shall cover:

  • deer leg sheath making

  • finishing bone knives

  • decorating and pigment making

  • sinew cordage making
